IT Services supports Secure SSL on the servers allowing users to send and receive secure mail, without the need for a VPN client.   In addition to using SSL, the SMTP server now requires the use of a Network ID and password for authentication.

Here are some simple configuration changes that you will need to make to have your email client use these new services.

Basic configuration changes for the secure SMTP change:

  1. Change the outgoing server to:
  2. Set the outgoing server to use SSL on port 465 (if specified)
  3. Set the outgoing server as requiring secure authentication
  4. Use your NETWORK ID and password (not Unix) for the outgoing server authentication
